Guiding Beliefs and Values

My Philosophy

I believe in the inherent value and dignity of each human being.  I will always recommend that you base your interactions with your child in respect for his or her mind, body, and spirit, and that you extend that same respect to yourself.  I will help you find ways to honour your child AND yourself in difficult situations.

There is no one-size-fits-all system for parenting.  I will create a safe and uplifting emotional environment for you to explore options, as well as underlying beliefs and/or fears.  Your work with me will help you clarify your own core values as a parent.  I will tell you what I think, why I think that way, and what I recommend for your situation, and I will be perfectly clear that YOU are the expert on your child.

Your work with Full Circle Parenting will be efficient.  Our time is valuable, and I appreciate sharing it together.  I will do my very best to consistently provide you with the information you need to make and implement decisions that you feel good about in your parenting.  I will spend unpaid time researching your specific needs when my current knowledge needs supplementing.

I will return calls and e-mails and will give you the time and information you need to decide whether working with me is the right fit for you.  I will let you know if I don't feel I am the right person to help you with any aspect of your situation, and I will refer you to someone that I think might be better suited to your needs.

I will estimate up front how many sessions we are likely to need to work through a given aspect of your particular situation, and we will decide together when a given phase of our work together is complete.

"I am so blessed that you are in my life.  Thank you for guiding me and supporting me through motherhood with all of your humour and wisdom."  S.A.

My Approach

Intuition We will check in frequently with your intuitive understanding about your child's needs, reasons behind behaviours, and your own ideas about what might work in your circumstance.  I will offer my intuitive thoughts, feelings, and ideas as well.  By basing our work in your intuition, we focus on your heart.  Your intuition will always feel right when your choices are supporting your child's heart, and strenghtening your connection to your child.

Research  Modern understanding about child development and the parent-child relationship doesn't always support typical modern parenting practices.  In addition, research sometimes seems to come out with counter-intuitive conclusions.  I believe that by combining knowledge of broad-based, strongly grounded research with intuition, we are using two very powerful tools to come to a strong understanding of why we're doing what we're doing, and of what makes sense.

"(My husband) really enjoyed your class the other night – he’s been sharing insights non-stop. I’m sure we’ll be at more of them in the future." L.B.
