Monkeyshines Children's Bookstore (www.monkeyshinesbooks.com)

Monkeyshines, in Marda Loop, is Calgary's one and only kid's bookstore.  Monkeyshines is locally-owned, and carries beautiful books for babies through teens.  They do Storytime for preschoolers every Thursday morning at 10:30 am.  

Self Connections Bookstore (www.selfconnection.ca)

Self Connection is a locally-owned bookstore that has great books for children, as well as a wide selection of conscious parenting books.  They are also a great resource for holistic events, concerts, and practitioners in Calgary, and in January 2010 will be opening at their new venue in Montgomery (Memorial and 16th Ave. NW) which will offer space for workshops in the self-development genre, equipped with video equipment for creating online accessibility, as well as other useful technology.

Prema Sai/Wholistic Living Magazine (www.premasai.ca)

Prema Sai Wholistic Living is a fabulous resource if you are looking for wholistic practitioners, classes, or products, including doulas and other birth specialists.  Join their mailing list to keep you informed about what is going on in their venue in Calgary, and pick up your copy of their "Wholistic Living Magazine" at health food stores around the city. 

Birth Unlimited (www.birthunlimited.ca/)

Birth Unlimited produces Birthing Magazine, both of which support the natural birthing community in Calgary.  They are a great resource for moms-to-be looking for unbiased information on birthing options, including birthing centres, midwifery, homebirth, doulas, vaginal birth after caesarean, and much more.
